Washing machines
Constant lack of time is a scourge of our modern style of life. Our work takes the lion's share of our life. During the whole working week we wait for weekends, when we have an opportunity to lie on the sofa and watch TV. However, at home our household tasks also wait for our weekends and sometimes instead of having a good time, we have to make home repairs, clean our flats and cook food. Fortunately, we have our reliable home assistants. One of them is a wonder of engineering – washing machines.
Washing machines have sold many problems. Curiously enough they have sold not only our domestic problems but also psychological ones. The main reason of quarrels in the majority of families is discrepancy of approaches towards allocation of household responsibilities among wives, husbands and children. These household responsibilities include particularly washing clothes. The process of hand wash is very complicated and requires special skills and time. Wives refused to wash their husbands' underwear and socks, mothers refused to wash their children's clothes, trying to train them to self-service and personal hygiene. The problem was solved miraculously. All washing tasks were shifted onto irreplaceable assistants – washing machines. A great deal of family problems was solved and many reasons for quarrels disappeared. The process of allocation of responsibilities became less painful. Everyone is happy. Besides, scientists didn't manage to reveal any damage for our health, caused by washing machines. At least in comparison with microwave ovens and air conditioners, washing machines are a picture of safety and reliability.
The only drawback of washing machines is their wonderful ability to break down at the most inopportune moments. The rhythm of our life is huge and the list of everyday tasks is tight. The slightest error in our schedule can spoil all our plans and fray our nerves pretty well. When we make our plans, we usually don't provide for errors and faults. We simply have no time for them and have to hope that everything will be OK.
Washing machines, despite all improvements still can give up fulfilling their direct tasks. No matter how accurate you are in use of this appliance, your washing machine seems to have its own plans for working and breaking down. It may also spoil your favourite clothes and change its colour, even if you follow all necessary instructions.
Despite all their drawbacks, washing machines are irreplaceable in our life. They make it easier, more convenient and more pleasant. If you are fed up with your everyday tasks, you may calm down by thinking that if you had no washing machine, life would be much harder.
